Edge Chromium is unusable for me. I have an eye problem, and I need to increase font size a fair amount to make Windows usable. In Edge Chromium, increasing font size also increases the padding in various elements of the UI, such that the tab bar, tool bar, and bookmarks bar puff up to take a good 1/6 of the vertical screen space, and the bookmarks dropdown looks like it's double spaced or 2.5 spaced. No other program is afflicted like this. Until/unless there's a workaround for this, I simply can't use the new Edge.
I downloaded it for my laptop and desktop. On my laptop, it installed perfectly. The desktop, on the other hand, not so much. It installed in Brazilian Portuguese according to the settings page... Luckily, I could recognize some of the words (and icons) and Google Translate helped with the rest and I was able to get it set back to US English. I also noticed that if I kept refreshing the Edge download page, it would bring up the download message in a different random language each time. It may be worth it for other users trying to install to just keep playing roulette until the right language comes up for the installer though there's probably no guarantee that it'll actually install in that language...
I have nothing overly negative to say about the new Edge browser other than It looks and feels just like all the other Chromium-based browsers. I'm underwhelmed.
Installed without any problems, nothing to dislike it![]()
Well, compared to the old Edge browser, this thing is lightning fast! It's easier to sync your settings only for the browser, and now it allows you to install chrome extensions without a hassle. If things continue as expected, I might ditch Chrome and start using Edge more... Firefox is still my main browser but... man! one browser less is one browser less! :V
