Hmm, think I’ll wait til it comes naturally through windows update. I’d rather delay as the sceptic in me imagines bookmarks, favourites bar pinned sites, favicons getting messed up in transition. Try and delay the pain. Maybe I’m wrong though and it’ll be ok but will wait for now . I’m happy with edge in current guise for now
    I am as well.

I did a backup (image) of the OS first.

Some of the settings (e. g., displaying the home page icon) were not carried over, but that was easy enough to fix. The favorites were imported as "other favorites". The extra layer is an annoyance, but I haven't looked into fixing that yet.

Overall, it appears that my worst fears were no realized. It seems to preserve what I liked about Edge. (So far.)

I just did it in a VM. It removed old Edge and installed new Edge. No office apps installed. A link to Office.com, which I removed.
Does it actually remove old Edge or just hide it, I hear if you uninstall the new Edge you get old Edge back.

If you remove it the old EDGE comes back after a restart. I think that they are just hiding it.

Hmm am I going to lose anything feature wise going from DEV to this RTM (even tough none of the builds were nowhere near ready for RTM)?

I would not uninstall Dev (I use Canary) until you're sure this has all the same workings.
That said, sync carried over favorites and passwords. The Collections feature did not carry over.
Only thing I had to re-install were the Chrome Web Store extensions but I only have about 10 and they only take seconds each, to replace.
