New Chromium based Microsoft Edge now generally available

You're a smart man Cliff!

I got sick of corruptions to browsers and Windows itself because of they don't use a master/slave system sync, and just combine any changes with what's already there.

Browsing isn't the issue here, the bookmarks manager is. Overall Edge Chromium is quite efficient. But managing bookmarks is taking more resources than a full blown SQL-Server with 100 clients connected and constantly requesting data. It's freaking ridiculous! And syncing does not work properly either, especially if I do a bookmarks move, nothing moves on the other browsers.
As, I said...a pile of poop.
Yeah, FF bookmarks works great, but so does Chrome. Syncing is 100% accurate and does not require a Quad-64-core CPU server setup to sync a few hundred bookmarks.
I have lost all hope. It has only gotten worse despite having spammed feedback since they started to work on this project. Must be a bunch of web developers who work on this browser, because it seems they don't have a clue how to do stuff efficiently. Bookmarks are just a few characters of text. Should take <1s to sync 1000 entries over a 350Mbit connection and CPU usage should barely flinch.
Hi there
why doesn't Ms outsource the whole kybosh to Google -- they've got the clout and development know how to do it -- Chrome on android is perfectly fine.
This whole browser mess really started a long time ago when there was some really silly Court case in the EU commission about Ms having a monopoly by integrating its browser (at that time IE) into the OS.
My experience with any sort of computing over the years is that if there is a need for an application that isn't proviided for on a current system or is implemented rediculously then a group of people will develop (usually) a better one.
Look at most Linux distros these days -- 100% free and really efficient --if there is a problem Open source developers usually get it fixed in double quick time.
I had to laugh at using SQL server to manage bookmarks (maybe there's a "mini hidden" SQL server in the book mark engine driving it !!! After all you can't let those cpu cycles go to waste on these nice ner bright shiny 4 and 8 core processors can you !!!)
cheers

Yeah, this is the main issue I have been complaining about since Edge learned to sync anything many years ago. All bookmarks are all over the place now, and look different on all 5 Edge versions/editions I use.

Slice, I have 5 systems(VMs included) all under the same account, the old Edge would sometimes suddenly have all my favorites 3 times, that's fun to cleanup, but no more.

Yeah, Cliff, duplicates is less of an issue now...but old Edge was horrible.

Laughing is important. Glad I could help!

Hi there
I'm not a techie in this regard but a Master Slave thing can also cause problems surely if there has to be an "election" on who'se the master -- and if the master isn't up when you use a secondarey device --what then. This used to be a problem with the SAMBA server (fixed these days) with the server(s) continually checking to see "Who was the boss").
As for multiple systems @Cliff S
Currently testing 4 !!! on a small home network. Sometimes I have 8 running !!

cheers

Hi there
I don't even think the Dogs in Battersea Dogs Home in London would eat that mess for their dinner.
Why doesn't Ms outsource the whole thing to Google --they've got the devlopers and cash --also Chrome on Andoid works just fine -- wouldn't though use it on Windows though.
As for 12GB of RAM -- I can probably run 6 more VM's in that space including a server or two !!!! --especially as I'm using KVM/QEMU hypervisor --incredibly efficient even running Windows VM's !!
Cheers

If you right click in the header area you can open a browser task manager which shows what is using cpu and ram.
