    Howdy. Does anyone else spot ( if you run WINVER ) the display shows "Version 2004 " ?
    I can't recall when, but the release for the first half of 2020 has been designated 2004 for quite a while. The 20 is for 2020, the 04 is for April. (Like 1909: 19 for 2019, 09 for September.)

    It's usually released in the month following the nominal, but maybe this one will be different.

    At the time of writing, my memory of numbering norms had totally lapsed. My bad.Since there is no watermark on the Desktop and no expiration date on Winver, this must be getting close to release bits "for the Spring 2020" / 20H1.Cheers.

    We will probably just see security updates and fixes before release.

    Hi there
    @Josey Wales

    some of you people in USA are too insular !!!

    2004 in "Sensible date format" is 04 (apr) 20 - 2020 --probably a good "Guestimate of when the thing should appear anyway as a "General Build --perhaps you guys should look at sensible things instead of using measurements based on King Henry VIII's arm lengths (you threw out the Brits in 1776 anyway (at that time I think it was the English --UK didn't appear as entity until later with Act of Union with Scotland and much later with N.I) - but a long while before Scottish forces joined up with the English --- History Buff's might like to know Border Town of Berwick Upon Tweed -- taken by Scots and English several times --now in England --still hasn't signed the peace treaty with Scotland !! so is still technically at war.!) and temperature based on some crazy Polish scientist who devised his scale on some sort of weird Water / Salt mixture !!!!!.

    Cheers

    I am not in that build now so I responded as to what I remember. I mentioned nothing about the format which MS seems to change many times.

    Hi folks

    Nice to wind people up (for a joke of course at times) but I think the issue was on why it was named 2004 --seems the most logical explantation is outside the USA date is either expressed in yyyymmdd or ddmmyyyy and 2004 seems logically 2020 April.

    C'mon guys no nastiness was meant here --after all didn't NASA get people to the moon back in the 1960's with any sort of by today's standard "Heath Robinson Equipment" -=the old Voyagers are still sending useful data back and wasn't some useful repairs done on on one of the Apollo space craft with something as basic as Duct tape --still mega useful today !!!! not just by NASA.)

    Nasty grey day today so a bit of a laugh is always good IMO anyway. !!!!

    Who could even conceive of a reasonably safe and Free planet today WITHOUT the USA !!!

    Cheers

    I was not offended by anything you posted, I only responded to confirm the version number as I already posted.
