    Hi folks

Did a New clean install as a VM -- the VISIO (part of office suite) program this time installed OK --failed two times before --although rest of Office 2019 installed OK -- otherwise nothing to report now

Running fine as a VM (boot UEFI VM)

So far so good as far as everthing else on it. Graphics, and SATA pci boards passthru OK giving Native performance on the VM.

I have 2nd ethernet adapter also so that's working too on LAN with real IP address -- I could use 1 ether net adaptor in Bridged mode from the HOST - but I want to squeeze every last bit of performance out of the VM

So far I think I've got pretty well "bare metal speed" on this VM -- My Hardware video capture device also working perfectly.

Photoshop and CAD 3-D applications fine too.

The Video passthru is really crucial though to get as near "bare metal speed" as possible. WIN-Virtio paravirtualisation is pefectly OK though on "normal" HDD's and SSD's !!! - if using SAS things (hideously expensive) then pass those through and use native I/O.

    Cheers

I found running the dism cleanup-image command seems to of made my computer hang on boot. Doing a system restore resolved it though.
Mine also failed after running the dism routine. I didn't run it again after reverting to 19041.1 and then installing using the UUP Dump 19041.21 ISO. No problems since.

    10.0.19041.21 Upgrade Failure: 0xC1900101 - 0x20017

Setup.exe did not work, got the same error twice (screenshot). Extracting the ISO image file took longer than usual on the second part. The process stalls on first restart at the Lenovo boot image with the spinning wheel. Wait 15 minutes and 20 the second time. Virtualization is off, made a cold shutdown each time.

Extracting the ISO file was about 10 minutes a year ago with an extra 10-15 minutes to reach the desktop.

It takes about 20-25 minutes to extract the ISO and another 20-25 minutes to reach desktop now. The ISO file is the same size. On our third attempt, we've reached desktop in 40 minutes.

Made a bootable stick of 19041.21, will try it tomorrow.

-There was a BIOS patch in December that fixed our firmware bug: Machine boots into Linux normally now. Happy camper since then, thanks to Lenovo.

    Third Attempt:

    Code:
    $Version = Get-ItemProperty -Path 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\'
    "Version $($Version.ReleaseId) (OS Build $($Version.CurrentBuildNumber).$($Version.UBR))"

    Version 2004 (OS Build 19546.1000)

I have come to the conclusion that for me the 19041.21 upgrade is just broken somehow.

The only way I can install it is from Windows update. Even then it acts all weird and crashes on the first couple reboots.
And if I do get past all that then running Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image or similar Dism commands render it unbootable.

Upgrade from a UUPDump 19041.21 ISO from 18363.592 or from 19041.1 doesn't make it through the first reboot. (spinning dots forever)
Booting to a 19041.21 Install usb created using UUPDump ISO and rufus won't even boot into initial setup. (more spinning dots forever)

I had none of these issues installinig 19546.1000, and it runs flawlessly on my machine from first boot up.

Sorry Microsoft... you have broken this one badly. Better luck next time. I'll be sitting out of the slow ring testing until next update.

    peace
    wanna

@MikeMecanic: You are not alone! I had the same error and problem, even when repair install 1909 on top of itself or try to upgrade to 20h1. There is something wrong in their code, we wait for another CU to fix those blocking issues. Please post your hardware and software environment, so we can pinpoint this issue.

I've just looked at mine, I've had no problems since I went onto the Slow ring a few months ago and I have the new version.

10.0.19041.27: Clean Install Stalls After 20 Seconds

@er557 See machine spec under my computer and you should update yours.

No luck here for this build number. Clean install does not work. The installer boots as if it was a VM installation = Loading files progress bar.

Installation stalls immediately after: Win Ten logo with the spinning wheel. USB led is not showing any activity after = dead.

I have a fix for you for the clean install issue, however I would still wait for another patch or update in order to iron out bugs and allow clean install/ upgrade install.

This build is NOT BOOTABLE(user observed issue). you need to use build 19041 from uupdump, and after it is installed, only then to update to .21. Or you can use build 19041.21 but replace boot.wim in the iso with the one from 19041.1

BTW, my specs are completely different, this is an intel/nvidia desktop. Do you have any unusuall software installed in windows?
