My Dell had Windows 7 for 3.33 years (before W10 free upgrade) and Windows 10 for 5 years. Currently 1909.
I like the fact that my 2012 Dell will continue to get updates (security & software) for several more years for FREE. Plus my W10 Dell runs GREAT; I won't miss W7.
I got off of 7 as soon as I could.... good riddance
As soon as Microsoft started the Windows 10 Preview with the Insider program, it was my Win7 laptop I upgraded to Win10 Preview, and 10 ran a lot better on that old 2010 Win7 machine.
I liked 10 so much I then put my Win 8.1 in the Insider program at the time(8.1 needs to die a violent death too)
When W10 was first released, I hated it, just like W8 - intensely!
After the 1800 series of builds, W10 was significantly better and I partially adopted it on all my systems.
Now on 1909, all run W10. There is still much more room for improvement but it is maturing as a solid OS.
Windows 7 is still great but it is time to move on.

Finally we can live in peace from MS borking updates and just keep up doing system images weekly and forget having to mess with ms at all
7 will be used by me for a long time more and 10 will stay as it has for years past just mostly unused as a old toy I'm bored with.
Probably irrelevant, but... I went from W98 to XP to Vista to W8.1 to W10, skipped W7 entirely. Mainly an artifact of buying completely new systems at the times when I changed hardware, and accepted whatever OS was on the (new) system at the time. All of these worked well for me. In their years, Vista and 8.1 received their share of opprobrium, but I had good service with each one. Horses for courses....
Over a decade later, Windows 7 still tops in the most-stable OS I have ever used even in today. Windows 10 just cannot do it unless you start using LTSC.
I went from win 95 to 98, then 2000 professional, XP home, then 7 pro, then 10 pro.
7 was my fav of all of these.
But I have virtual machines for every windows version ever released. Windows me was quite funny going back and looking at the built in help they had for the internet at the time. Video calling and chats starting to become a thing.
