As I said in my post, you are to me a greatly respected fellow member, and I was not criticising you. My post, my point, was about the reply you got.

Short: your question was / is valid, I liked it. Answer you got was ridiculous, and that's what I criticised.

I like you, and I respect you. I am following you, have never seen a "stupid" post of you. The question you asked shown in my post is one I myself wanted to ask. The ridiculous answer to that question is what I criticised. Not your question.

(MS insists on one for each App in the Store as well (they check it each time an upgrade gets published as well - shows their commitment to user privacy, IMHO)

Had any of these been transgressed, there is a line of lawyers itching to take MS to court -it has not happened and not gonna happen...

So rest assured - you can switch whatever telemetry off if need be, but as said before it's not personal information (particularly if an MSA is not used), so no need to do so - apart perhaps for bandwidth utilization etc.

The telemetry Microsoft collects is to make Windows better, and to improve the Windows user experience. Microsoft will not call your ex if you called her a stupid cow in a Skype chat with a friend. Microsoft will not print your most embarrassing social media photos and put them on display on Redmond campus to give their personnel a good laugh. Microsoft will not report you to the authorities if you mention in an email that you lied in your tax declaration.
