I'm not shedding any tears over Windows 7 since I never ran it except on a laptop I upgraded from Vista. I ran XP on everything else until 8 came out (Pro was offered at $40) and I found Classic Shell. Everything happily chugging along on 10 now.

I bet when Windows 7 first arrived, it was praised as the ultimate OS. I love it still, I love Windows 8.1, don't like Windows 10.

So what if it is old, it still one damn good piece of work.

    Hi there.

so was the Old Steam locomotive --- things move on --nothing wrong though in riding those old things for nostalgic reasons or using an Old OS if it does what you want individually --- however either of those things aren't suitable any more (either for mass transit or running secure corporate enterprise workstations etc).

    cheers

I have a 1960's Mk 1 Mini, I love driving it and clock up about 3,000 miles a year in it, but I wouldn't use it as my 'daily driver'.

I will keep Windows 7 on at least one of my machines, for much the same reasons.

I still keep active Windows XP boxes offline just in case I need to use Windows software or I want to do Flight Simulator X.

Well yes but then so was Windows 2000 which was a miracle in its time. I only upgraded to XP at the very end of cycle and the same with windows 7 I skipped Vista and ran 8.1 only for a short while with the exception of my wife's HP all in one it remains on 8.1 Pro she just doesn't want to deal with learning a new OS on this old computer

I am all for that kind of use for any EOL OS. OFFLINE.

I just do not want to drive on the same internet highway with people using out of date unpatched versions of Windows. To me, it is like having drunk drivers on the road.
