Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast Build 19541 - January 8 Insider

Installed from 0 to 100% in 30 minutes (30 minutes extra for downloading as my internet is from mobile hotspot) inside Hyper-V.

After update, it can't connect to internet anymore through Default Switch in Hyper-V. Have to create an external switch now !

Hi folks

downloading from UUPDUMP to a W10 current build (18363.535) running on a QEMU VM.

Will install -- great having fast Internet -- download and creation of ISO -- approx 4 mins.

Now for install

Note the VM is hosted on a RAID 0 Array on the host 3 X 2.73 TB HDD's as an 8TB array .

It's defined as using a single 80GB HDD -- I don't expect to get as good speed as those on Native SSD's but with the VirtIO windows drivers the VM will be on my machine nearly as good as a physical machine (assuming I can avoid hosing up the KVM/QEMU bridged networking !!!! --equiv to HYPER-V's external switch) --especially as the Host OS is running with 4X physical XEON's !!!.

OK download done --- back to VM to install now

I don't have any virtual machines but the last two insider updates always fails to install and rolls back to 19041. Does this workaround work for me too?

Try and use the iso from UUPDUMP -- download the script, extract and run it. Then run the setup.exe to either install from scratch or update.

(I'd backup exiting system first of course -- Macrium is a good program for that purpose --the free edition is 100% bgood enough for taking windows system image backups).

Be advised that this build, as with the previous build, breaks Windows desktop animation. So especially if you are using programs such as Wallpaper Engine, they now will not work.

This release still won't install (at least on my machine) under VMWare wks rel 15 -- but not an issue now for me any more as I've switched VM's to KVM/QEMU. Was using VMWare as a final test before ditching it. Installs perfectly on QEMU/KVM.

14 Mins to install (upgrade) on a VM from the ISO created via UUPDUMP excluding the 4 Min download and iso create time

Language working OK this time too !!!!!! --and no probs with Internet as I believe a previous poster had experiencedwhen using a VM.





Multi-media playing e.g VLC works perfectly as well -- although the Host is good for that. Graphics (CAD-3D and photoshop all run without errors.


C'mon Ms --this is getting TOO EASY --- We can't have Windows without bugs and defects -- what would those people working in I.T support have to do then !!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess it's good for people who use AskWoody, Forbes and others who don't like Windows 10 and love to spread unnecessary fake news of Windows 10 updates.
