ok, that's it! After a total Reset of the OS in VMWare, went thru the entire WU update process, and after Restart came right back to the Choose your Keyboard display. 4th time. This build and VMWare do not get along. Wouldn't be the first time. I'll skip my VM Fast on this one. 99.999% chance it's VMWare, not the build. Something changed it could not deal with.

I'll restore (MR) my 19041 Fast and let it sit.

Did you continue from there? I think that upgrade would have continued normally. This reminds me about something I posted ages ago in an already dead thread. That's about the same situation, although my old post shows how to perform a clean when you land on page when booting from install media, instead of your in-place upgrade:

Geeks, it seems that something is missing from build 17093 upgrade files. ISO can be created both from UUP files downloaded with Windows Update and tools like UUP Dump, but the ISO boots to recovery console.

Notice that ISO made with our UUPtoISO tool is totally functional in every other aspect and can be used for clean install.

To clean install, boot from install media made from your ISO and select your keyboard layout. Click See more keyboards layouts (#1 in screenshot) to find yours, Finnish in my case (#2):

Continue booting normally to Command Prompt as told in Option Two in this tutorial: Open Command Prompt at Boot in Windows 10 General Tips Tutorials

Use DISKPART (#1) command LIST VOL (#2) to find out drive letter for your 17093 install media, in my case now it's drive D: (#3). Quit DISKPART with command EXIT (#4), then run Windows setup with command D:\setup.exe (#5) to open Windows Setup (#6), replacing drive letter with your actual one, and finally clean install Windows normally:

I'm on my 3rd attempt after repeated 0xC1900101 errors, previously I removed the Provisioning registry key (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Provisioning) to fix this error 5 months back.
    I ran SFC /SCANNOW and dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth this time I've disconnected 2 external USB drives per https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...llation-errors.

I have an AMD RX 570 but I'm using the driver windows installed:
    Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
    10/23/2019
    26.20.13031.5006
    Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher

clicking restart to try with no USB HDs connected
well that didn't work either ... it gets to 30% when it does the reboot and then rolls back

checking CBS.LOG there is only 1 error
    Code:
    2019-12-17 14:34:10, Info CBS Failed reading PoqexecCmdline registry key [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]
    2019-12-17 14:34:10, Info CBS Failed to get poqexec cmdline from Components\Configuration. [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]

    @Kari

After the Keyboard display, and click on US, I did get to all the trouble shooting choices. I'll try it one more time, with your post ina seperate tab so I don't loose trck of it. And, I'm going to use my ISO to speed it up considerably. Will let you know. Thanks.

Depending on which screen you'll see, if you land on this screen, just select Continue, and upgrade should continue:

If you land on this page, click the arrow to get back to screen shown above:

And, if landing on this page, click the arrow to back to screen shown above:

I am of course not sure this will work, but I am familiar with Windows Setup accidentally landing on WinRE "Select Keyboard" page. This is a workaround to continue Windows Setup.

Pretty much the same here. But I have Nvidia graphics (basic).
Reset update, cleared some registry keys etc. Trying again

Good luck, I may reset my PC and try again. I'm going to search around a little more to see if I can find the ISO people are attempting with
