KB4532441 Cumulative update for Autopilot in Windows 10 1903 and 1909

    Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909 - December 10, 2019
    Category: Win Update
    Last Updated: 12 Dec 2019 at 18:01

Cumulative update for Autopilot in Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909: December 10, 2019

Applies to: Windows 10 version 1903, Windows 10 version 1909

    Summary

This update makes quality improvements to Windows Autopilot configured devices, which is the component that enables organizations to easily provision their devices. Key changes are included for the following issues:

    • During Autopilot White Glove or self-deploying mode, TPM attestation does not initiate if the device had just been through system preparation (Sysprep).
    • In an edge scenario, Autopilot White Glove Hybrid Azure AD joined devices (AADJ) stops responding on the provisioning page when the TPM is in a specific inconsistent state.
    • User-driven Hybrid Azure AD joined deployment times out if a restart is initiated during the process.
    • When you reuse an existing layout file, the local network download provider and local profile are used incorrectly during an Autopilot deployment.
    • Bring your own VPN support for Autopilot User driven mode with Hybrid Azure AD join.

    How to get this update

    Windows Update

This update was available through Windows Update. However, we have removed it because it was being offered incorrectly. When an organization registers or configures a device for Windows Autopilot deployment, the device setup automatically updates Windows Autopilot to the latest version.

Note There is no effect on Windows Autopilot being offered to Windows 10 devices. If you were offered this update and do not use Autopilot, installing this update will not affect you. Windows Autopilot update should not be offered to Windows 10 Home.

    Prerequisites

You must have Windows 10 version 1903 (OS Build 18362.387) or a later version installed to apply this update.

    Restart information

After this update is installed, your device may restart automatically.

    Update replacement information

This update replaces the previously released update KB 4523786.

Note Windows Autopilot update is not installed on Windows 10 Pro or a later version when the device is not registered or configured for Windows Autopilot deployment. Windows Autopilot update is never offered to Windows 10 Home.
Unfortunately, as was the case in October, this is mistakenly being deployed to all Pro machines, regardless of whether they are registered or configured for Windows Autopilot deployment. This time round, Home is spared.

The KB4523786 cumulative update has been pulled and is no longer being automatically installed via Windows Update since Microsoft released it by mistake to Home and Pro editions on personal computers.

Also, once installed on Pro it will install again (and again) each time you check for updates. Uninstall it and it will just come back.

Until MS pull this one too, it can be hidden using wushowhide.diagcab.

After all updates were done I paused updates until Jan 4 2020 and then uninstalled this crap.

I am pausing updates on all my units until Jan 4 also.

Now I can sit back and enjoy the holidays.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

So I first read this thread and ran the Windows Update Mini Tool and hid the Autopilot update before running Windows Update. :)

After this update and the Net Framework update installed I ran 'Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup' which went to 20% very quickly and then said 'The operation completed successfully'.

I wonder what's that all about?

Why am I getting this update when my PC doesn't use Autopilot? Is this another MS debacle?

First unpleasant surprise: KB4532441 for Windows Autopilot Update downloaded twice (see little red arrow in screenshot below) after checking for Updates a second time. I hope this is not a broken record. I am going to check for Updates for a third time and see if my saying holds true.
