It looks like those Threshold tipsters were right on the money about Microsoft's next-generation Windows release.
According to a January 11 report from Windows SuperSite's Paul Thurrott, Microsoft Threshold looks to be a spring 2015 release wave. Specifically, if Microsoft sticks to schedule, Threshold should crest around April 2015, Thurrott said he's been told by his own sources.
Microsoft is going to disclose its Threshold plans at a "vision" level at its Build conference in San Francisco in April 2014, Thurrott said. If this happens, it'll be a back to the future moment -- and one that will be welcomed by many in Microsoft's developer and user communities. Microsoft's Windows division finally will begin sharing at least some details about its future Windows plans publicly again.

Please ditch Metro and bring back the start button and normal log in. I would buy it day one.
Microsoft reportedly planning Windows 9 release in April 2015
Microsoft is currently working on an "Update 1" for Windows 8.1, but the company has bigger plans for the future of Windows as part of a "Threshold" wave of updates. Windows watcher Paul Thurrott reports that the company’s Threshold plans will involve a release of Windows 9 around April 2015. Microsoft will allegedly unveil its vision for Windows 9 at the company’s Build 2014 developer conference in April, with a release planned for a year later.

Looks like even more tile sizes for Metro tiles. The extra big size may be good for live tiles. For those of us that actually use them that is.![]()
I'm not opposed to the old start menu, just make it optional. It's not something I would use but its something a lot of users want back. Same with Metro, I use it but some don't care for it.
I really hope Metro becomes Windowed like the Desktop. The full screen lock in doesn't appeal to me.
