This ALWAYS works for me..Same here, and before starting the 2nd attempt, I have been getting an error code for the reason it failed. Three times now, all different codes. If I got the error code the first time, what has changed for the 2nd attempt as it is immediate by choosing [Retry]? Last night, on 2nd attempt, the download took maybe 1 minute and the install phase jumped right along. Seems to me "they" are using the same data? Why isn't the software smart enough to figure that out before it is restored to previous version?
UUPDump .iso, mount (Rufus) onto a Flash Drive ready for use.
Then Disconnect wi-fi or Ethernet cable (so PC has no live connection).
Run the Setup of iso. (make sure ALL other USB Devices are removed).
Apart from recent Shutdown issue, I never have any install issues or having to rollback because of an issue.
My theory is that having no internet connection means MS is not interfering with all the normal update reboots/Install.
Once done I run the usual clean up and then connect back Live to the internet, usually reboot and then run WU.
You will see it very quickly run through saying it is downloading new flight again up to 100%, then Installation up to 100% and then another downloading and you may get a Red cant update warning (click on Retry) and will return to normal green tick OK ''You're Up to Date''..
A quick re-set of WU that takes no more than about 5 minutes...let it (WU) do it's thing.
