The latest Skype version 8.53 is out. There’s a cool improvement for chatting when in a call, now you can use all the familiar chat features even then. In addition, we’ve done some bug fixes and other improvements. You asked, we delivered!

Skype for Windows, Mac, Linux and Web

Skype for Android, iPhone and iPad

    • Bug fixes and stability improvements.

    What’s fixed?

    • Longer messages getting cut on Android
    • Call Scheduling not working correctly on Android

The new chat feature is rolling out gradually over the next couple of days so if you don’t see them right away, just check again soon!

Also, if you are a Mac user and have recently upgraded to macOS Catalina, please make sure Skype has permission to share your screen to ensure a smooth experience. You can read more about this here.

Please let us know what you think about the latest changes, either here in the community or through the Skype app. And you can always go to Skype’s User Voice to submit and vote for new features and ideas.  You might also want to check out the known issues.

Thank you for all that you do to support Skype!

Still can't delete more than one chat at a time. And for a desktop application the amount of wasted screen space in the contact list is criminal.

And in the list of "cool improvements", where the h**l did they dig up the word "Embiggen"?

My biggest bugbear with Skype is I start typing and it doesnt show because you have to click in the message box specifically. You should be able to just click anywhere on the window to be able to type.
