Have you tried msconfig and [ ] Make all boot settings permanent? Maybe that could help.
Yes, I have. No difference. Adding a new boot entry, then booting to it, removes the original, main OS from boot menu.

    Hi,
I guess I'm not as lucky as some of you, on my lenovo laptop.. the latest update seemed to have corrected the shutdown issue, but on my house desktop it failed once again to shutdown correctly.

Let it run few minutes and if it doesn't do it, push reset button.

And my Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4 decidedly did not want to shut down! I haven't tried anything on my desktop yet.

Not for me. I had to do a hard shutdown.
If I'm understanding your posts correctly it wouldn't have been fixed until after the first restart after the download and install. I used the restart command when I did my updates. So far the problem hasn't happened since the update.

Right, Winuser. After the hard shutdown, it shuts down, although a bit slowly. Maybe next Build will finish off the bugs.
