Microsoft Edge to Launch Without Key Features

Microsoft will not support running legacy Edge side-by-side with the new Edge either; when you install the new Edge, it will replace the old version.

I read the Thurrott article and I find it "very" difficult to believe that MS would replace Edge with a version that did not have a functional history and timeline sync . Perhaps it's true but, that just seems to be setting themselves up for some really "robust" criticism...

    Hi all -

May I please have a definitive quick brief on what is going to be released this November (shortly!) and in January?
Are they quality updates and/or feature updates? Seems that some things are not complete?

    Thanks.

1909 will be released this month, most likely tomorrow. It will be a feature update but installable just like a regular update. Nothing is planned for january, just normal cumulative updates.

After reading some articles, including Thurrott, I wonder if this update is going to be half-baked!

the maker of the Windows/Office ISO Downloader tool has recently posted a new version that claims to download the 1909 ISOs but the actual 1909 ISOs haven't been posted by MS (so they don't work yet - not until at least 11/12)

must wait til patch Tuesday Nov. 12

    This made me chuckle...

Lock screen access to third-party assistants. There’s no way to test this feature right now since no third-party assistant makers (like Amazon) have updated their digital assistant apps for Windows 10 to support this feature yet. But the theory is that you’ll be able to use Amazon Alexa or other third-party assistants while your PC is locked, just as you can (optionally) do with Cortana. I can’t imagine many people will do this.

USB drives displaying weird icons (i believe in usb 3.0 ports only)

    Strange USB-Drive Icons

    Strange.
