I think it's your Insider status and the ring you are on that does that. As a non-Insider I get the normal CU releases and nothing else.
Am an Insider on Fast Ring on one computer.....418 CU on another.....Have an M$ account linked to four computers.

Yah I think it's a bit retarded -- some time ago developers had huge issues getting Windows version from the Environment API (reporting wrong version) and resorted to using the kernel file build version to check which Win version their apps were running - with this scenario those apps are all gong tits-up - it won't be a train smash as it's still Win 10 but just saying...
Did you see this? Is there a connection to what you're saying here?

Dencal, did you do a clean install or an upgrade?

Did your install go all way to .418? Mine went to 1909 but 18363.10022. I did update from windows insider download, then rolled back and installed from uupdump, both of which gave me same result. Seems to run fine.

I am running .418 right now. It worked perfectly.

Standard Update.....On 1903 changed by clicking on Update then Windows insider Program....then changed version to preview....turned off computer.....you might have to wait a while before you get the option to Update...in my case a few hours.

    Hope that helps.

I changed from Slow Ring to Release Preview 2 days ago, and I'm still on 18362.10022. Maybe my hair got a wrong color, or it is because I'm from Denmark???

I think the manner with which this upgrade has been introduced-then back peddled is totally unacceptable. How can users be encouraged to select release preview and then have a cumulative update be downloaded, then be told ‘you’ll get it eventually. At the same time some insiders have the upgrade already. Some who have downloaded the upgrade from the windows insider site have been successful with installing while others cannot upgrade using the same website. It in incomprehensible.

Some info on Windows dev/releases I’ve been hearing:

19H2 GA is targeted for Nov 12

1st Manganese build is expected at some point that same week for Skip Ahead users.

MS is hoping to have new Edge bundled with Windows in time for the 20H1 RTM

Windows 10X will RTM with 20H1
