Well here we go. One of VMware WS 15.5 18999 VMs shutdown correctly - another did not. The one that works had no third party apps - could this be a clue. Well the 'softies released this - they will fix it - by and by.

New known issue added. See first post for more details.

[ADDED] If using a Surface device, Bluetooth devices may not reconnect as expected after closing the device lid. We’re working on a fix, but in the meantime, you can toggle Bluetooth off and back on in the Settings app or reboot the device.

So far so good, just checked one of my IP computers and it did a full shutdown and a restart as expected.

Mine shutdown for a few days using the Win Key + L and it worked. Last night it failed once again. Can't wait for them to release the next built.

Okay, not satisfied having the crap beat out of me the first time, Idecided to revisit this monster. 8 days after...
reloaded, somethings have actually been corrected enough to have build to work with. Power shut down issue still there but can be fixed by cycling the power plan from balanced to high performance (leave it there if you don't care about power consumption) and back to balanced, then restart. problem should go away!!! Windows update and history now reports the current OS and all other goodies installed One failure on a driver that is not actually required for my OS, go figure. Stability test, ha ha. works okay but, only been on it a few hours. All drives installed are reporting properly and can be accessed in the usual manner. My main bios (gigabyte) was wiped out on first go and the boot sequence was rendered useless. Was able to repair this successfully with a clean install. If you are using multiple drives on your system might want to pull all but the drive you want as your primary OS drive and install new OS on that drive. Currently rebuilding my entire docs, music, photos and all that stuff from back ups of course. To be continued...

You can resume WU, and then 'Pause for 7 days' AGAIN and it will extend the time out further.....well it works on ALL my 6 machines which has this option, in either Insider builds or 18362.418 finals.

I am sure someone else will argue that this can't be done....works for me.

Why is it in a moment of weakness (VERY), am I'm so tempted to install build 18362.418...I even have the ISO downloaded on my computer. But since I'm already running a newer build (18999.1) I would basically start from scratch and re-install everything..added program's..etc.

Well I just downloaded Ubuntu Server 19.10. It is quick and easy to install, e.g. gnome so I have in a VMware WS VM, I am now downloading the Windows Server and Windows Server Essentials 2019 evaluations and will make VMs and decide between them. Then install on mly Windows disk IF there is no Insider Preview, and since nobody has announced they are succeeding Dona we mushrooms will never know when we get a solution for the shutdown/restart issue. Actually, I would not put it past Microsoft to have introduced the "bug" as a feature while they temporize. Just my feeling after 5 lyears aS an Insider. It took a year or two for me to find this forum and then I was almost 86ed for calling Windows at that time a toy OS, since they were releasing build that could not even time sync for a few months (I was the first one AFAIK that pointed this out - it was never acknowledged by M$ - just quietly fixed as may happen with the bug some of are encountering. What do you guys think?

This one is still what, at least 6 - 8 months to release as stable, plenty of time ti fix problems (and make new ones).
