IMPORTANT This is a required security update that expands the out-of-band update dated September 23, 2019. This security update includes the Internet Explorer scripting engine security vulnerability (CVE-2019-1367) mitigation and corrects a recent printing issue some users have experienced. Customers using Windows Update or Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) will be offered this update automatically. To help secure your devices, we recommend that you install this update as soon as a possible and restart your PC to fully apply the mitigations. Like all cumulative updates, this update supersedes any preceding update.
Note This update does not replace the upcoming October 2019 monthly update, which is scheduled to release on October 8, 2019.

    Windows Update Improvements
Microsoft has released an update directly to the Windows Update client to improve reliability. Symptom Workaround
Certain operations, such as rename, that you perform on files or folders that are on a Cluster Shared Volume (CSV) may fail with the error, “STATUS_BAD_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL (0xC00000A5)”. This occurs when you perform the operation on a CSV owner node from a process that doesn’t have administrator privilege. Do one of the following:

    • Perform the operation from a process that has administrator privilege.
    • Perform the operation from a node that doesn’t have CSV ownership.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

    How to get this update

    Before installing this update

SSUs improve the reliability of the update process to mitigate potential issues while installing the LCU and applying Microsoft security fixes. For more information, see Servicing stack updates.

If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4512573) will be offered to you automatically. To get the standalone package for the latest SSU, search for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

I thought end of service for this original 1507 RTM was way back in 2017?

Windows10 is really suffering from version hell!

only non-LTSB versions of 1507/RTM went out of support in mid-2017, Fafhrd.

the KB4524153 update is for LTSB 2015 (v1507) edition only - does not apply to Home/Pro/Education/Enterprise editions of 1507 as it refuses to install on anything but LTSB 2015
