A quick update to my earlier post about installation issues with KB4524147...

After trying a few troubleshooting steps (including resetting Windows Update) I gave in and did a fresh install of Windows. Then, before installing any third party drivers or software (except GPU drivers) I applied the update again. This time it installed with no error.

Of course I still don't know exactly what the problem was but at least I can forget about it now!

Thanks Bree very clear and useful info; hope you don't mind I'll aks if it's ok to uninstall internet explorer, I infer it is kinda "deprecated" and I don't use it ...
As Jimbo45 says, parts of the IE code are used elsewhere in the system so you should not uninstall it. Anyway, you need to do some hacks to remove it completely. What you can do safely is to remove IE in Windows Features. That's as close as you can get to uninstalling it without breaking Windows.

Hi, I also use Libre Office (the Portable version). After reading your post, I tried reproducing your problem, but can not. I opened a few DOCX, XLSX, PPT, and ODF. I also tested creating new files, no crashes.
Not using portable version, are you running it of a flash drive. What about notepad?

This update downloaded this morning for me, no issues, printing fine, creating doc's, images fine etc. Installed quick. I'm using Open office, latest version.

Thanks @jimbo45 & @Bree , by uninstall i actually mean removing it from windows features, I thought it was the same as uninstalling a program.

    Best regards

What kind of third party drivers and software did you have installed before? Maybe we have sometime in common that I can pin point to. No need to list every software like Firefox or "Game" as I don't think those would ever block something like this, but drivers and security software things might. Also do you disable anything in Windows with programs like with O&O ShutUp10, or use CCleaner, etc.?

Sticky notes works fine for me. But I had to reinstall KB4524147 after a first failed try. See this snippet from Update history:

    Cumulative Update KB4524147 Windows 10 v1903 build 18362.388 - Oct. 3-image.png

According to Google and WinAero "The error code 0x80242016 means 'WU_E_UH_POSTREBOOTUNEXPECTEDSTATE  The state of the update after its post-reboot operation has completed is unexpected '." Something of a mystery error report, so I'm incredibly grateful it went through on the second try.
