Or just make available for download immediately. Updating from ISO usually works better.

Yes done that and am downloading uupdump just in case. I'll just leave it to run this time and watch some telly.

Build installed ok even though I've had a problem with a security update that would not install earlier. Don't really know what happened to it, perhaps it just got shoved aside or finally installed ok.

. On the other hand, it has been a big mystery to me how UUPDump could get things done seamlessly while MS' own download/Install could be so persnickety to say the least.

I saw a similar thing a couple of weeks ago during a clean install with both a 250GB [C:] and a 320GB [D:] drive plugged in. Then later I decided to remove D: and the computer wouldn't boot. Turned out [it's an older Optiplex] setting the BIOS to RAID/AHCI let Windows to only pick up the RAID part which of course removal of the D: drive broke the boot process. Anther clean install with only the C: drive works fine. That's the downside of clean installing, don't have anything else plugged in, not even USB drives.

Not strictly true....After having had so many failed Updates decided on build 18890 to do UUPDump...it failed whereas Update worked afterward.
