    - I've never used Sandboxie..I'm going to check that out.. thanks bo elam.
I remember in the past dealing with this w/FF. I think the solution way back then involved flash player and changing something on it like hardware acceleration or turning off some kind of protection on it or changing a setting in the OS or something.
    - true sgage, I've watched the process stick around and then it goes away after a while.. seems to only happen for me after visiting Amazon reviews.. like the javascript there crashes something and makes it hang a little ... good to find a site/type of site causing in any case.

I get the same thing maybe once or twice in 24 hours. It is irritating but, the issue goes away on it's own if I end the ff process or if i can open a second case of the ff browser through the taskbar ff launch icon.

I reckon there are many sites that use dodgy javascript or whatnot. I've seen this behavior when I've been nowhere near Amazon - though I am going to see if a visit to Amazon increases that 'hang time'.

Yeah I'm sure there are other sites. If you want to see it with amazon as I do, just visit this link which is a link to an amazon product page with reviews. Let the page load fully.. might take 5 seconds or so, then close FF completely then relaunch it again.

I loaded it up fully, quit FF. I watched on Task Manager - it was the same 8-10 seconds before that last process ended. I restarted FF, no problem. Moral of the story, just wait 10 seconds after shutting down FF before restarting it. To me that's a bit easier than messing around with Sandboxie or what have you. But whatever floats your boat!

Yeah I could do that but I sometimes like to close out and then quickly restart without waiting or looking at processes etc. I'm trying to see if there is something on Amazon I can block besides javascript w/uBo that might stop this behavior. I've read of people that block images or various things and then Amazon works fine. I think it really should work fine since Amazon is an important site for shopping and Edge, Chrome, IE, PM etc at least on my computer have no issues with it. It shouldn't hang or cause that error message.

You could try disabling Hardware acceleration in Firefox Options>General

Also, disabling Multiprocess (E10) might help. Now days, Mozilla makes us go through hoops to get this done but I can show how to do this if you wanted to.

I being doing both of those things for years, I never have issues with Firefox.

Another thing you could try is to install the 32 bits version of Firefox instead of the 64 bits version. On paper, the 64 bits version is supposed to be more stable but in reality, is the opposite. I also been doing this forever. Works great. I seen people with Firefox issues, do this as a workaround, and it works.

By the way, I checked the JS on that site. Is minimal, I would say for a site like Amazon, is acceptable what they are doing in their page. I doubt is their JS whats causing Firefox to stay running.

I am curious as to why you want to close FF and immediately restart it...

In any case, I see this issue almost regardless of my browsing history in that session - I haven't seen Amazon make it any worse. Those other browsers don't have the problem because they are coded differently. FF does what it does. No, it 'shouldn't', but for now it does. I'll bet they fix it. IMO it is a vastly superior browser to any of the others, and I am willing to wait a few seconds after shutting it down before starting it up.

I shop on Amazon a fair amunt, and have no problem with it and FF. I use FF exclusively for everything. No matter what I've been doing with FF - Amazon or whatever - there's the same 8 second delay for that last process to quit. Not a problem for me, but oh well.

edit: after posting this, I quit FF - it was the exact same 8 second delay until that last process quit. I immediately restarted, no problem. Same exact timing as with the Amazon site you linked to.

I've tried all of those things except for using 32bit FF. I've also reduced the content processes to 1 or 2, turned off hardware acceleration (I also completely uninstalled flash and reinstalled it) and it makes no differences. I think I've read that FF will be removing the ability to turn off e10 in future... not sure if that is accurate.

If I turn off javascript on my uBO on the amazon domain the issue vanishes.
