What does the C in CCleaner mean anyway? I always read it as a stutter. I used it back when all my teenage friends used it (not sure why tbh). Ever since Windows 8 -- especially now on 10 -- I try to avoid most 3rd party apps like this because I love being clean from top to bottom.
Crap Cleaner, I do believe that was it's original name early on.

How about both? It is a pune or a play on words - it is a crap cleaner in both senses of the word perhaps

IMHO and experience when you feel it's time to run a cleaner it's really time for a clean install.

    Disagree completely.

Every tool is as good as its user. If you're bad at handling the hammer, just don't touch it.

CCleaner served me quite well over the years but I do know what I do and what I should not touch.

And I do not re-install Windows on a whim either.

    totally agree with krzemien.

I hardly have any problems with CCleaner, even the latest versions of it.
and when installing CCleaner I always do a Custom installation of it (turn certain options on while leaving other setup options off and I immediately delete the ccupdate.exe file after install) since I like to update the app on my terms, not avast. :)
