It's the registry cleaner I think they're mostly worried about as that could damage your OS and in inexperienced hands, it could be a problem.

There are far more Registry cleaners out there such as Wise, The Reg Cleaner in CCleaner is tame compared to most. A tool of any kind in inexperienced hands can be a problem. But like I posted MS has the right to ban any website they want to on their own server.

Sure.. just as we have the right not to use M$ at all.. but WHY do they do this.. I find it hard to believe that it is purely out of concern for the Registry Health of their loyal & beloved users?

In reading the article posted at the beginning of this thread, Microsoft has made their position clear as to why CCleaner has been blacklisted internally.

The well-known Software house boasts millions of downloads worldwide of Free and Pro tools for alleged performance maintenance of different versions of Windows, but also millions of requests for assistance in the Microsoft forums themselves due to malfunctions due to unconventional or non-aware uses. It will no longer be possible from today onwards to recommend CCleaner on Microsoft pages by normal users. In exceptional cases, Moderators or Agents will still be able to insert pages belonging to the domain in blacklist.
I rarely use CCleaner for this very reason; it's so very easy to do something that Gramma's lye soap won't take off.

Yes! That was my point really.. but I can also see that a few million less requests for assistance with software other than their own, could possibly be seen to reduce the severity of M$'s present 'headaches' anyway!
