I have an OPTIONAL update labeled 2019-09 CU win10 ver 1903 for x64 systems (KB4517211). I will not update it myself as long as it is 'optional'. Is there a reason many here are having it self-installing (or going ahead and letting it install)? I did a search, found this post, am trying to understand... I am of the thought process to leave optional until it is automatic. Maybe, it will limit any problems?
It is an optional "D" release that is designed for IT personnel to test the fixes before they are available on Update Tuesday.
This way they can be sure they will have no problems when they update their systems on Update Tuesday.

By design "D" releases do not contain any security updates.

This update should only be offered if you do a manual Check-for-Updates and the automatic checking for updates should not show this update.

I've also got this Optional Update available showing. KB4517211 Cumulative Update. I'm hesitant to install because my system is working fine without it. Upon researching what it's for, I learnt that if you ignore this update it will be automatically installed on the next patch Tuesday so I'm happy with that I guess.

PS: I did not do a manual check for Updates as suggested above. It just appeared.

The band D updates can do that.

If you go to the KB page this update at bottom of page it states you have to click on Check for Updates.
On the left side you can select each update and it states how to install it.

Some are automatic and some you have to manually download the update from the catalog.

It can be confusing but at least the KB will let you know.

Check the Sept 10 update and it is automatic. ( released on Update Tuesday)

The ISO version for 19H2 is 1903 (18362.356). WU will update this installed version to ???

BTW, you need 16GB of free space on the C-drive or the ISO creation will fail. MCT is clear about this during the process.

    Hello,

That would be for 19H1 instead to be updated for 18362.387.
