@kado897 you could be right...

I've re-enabled restore points in Group Policy Editor and tried again. I suspect its not doing what it should because even with it disabled I can create a restore point manually. According to the TUT I shouldn't even be able to open the option to do that. Very confusing indeed. I'll continue having a play.

Here is a montage of shots showing it newly disabled and yet still able to create a restore point. I'll delete the restore points, turn it off in the policy editor and then disable it in the System Restore window and see what happens.

I get a green screen around 10s after sign in
Have now rolled back to 18975 via Macrium
Any ideas?

I might be on to something re System Restore...

It seems the Group Policy Editor settings are doing the reverse of what they should. When I select 'Enable' I find the System Restore window shows System Restore is OFF and all options are greyed out.

...I was having same problem with my drive space being eaten and showed the following:
Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: UNBOUNDED...
Used following to reclaim and adjust and seemed like it has corrected so far:
vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /MaxSize=X% (X being What percent of drivespace you care to utilize)

You're not the only one, I'm totally confused as well. So 'Not configured is the default'. Are we saying then that if we select 'enable' we are really enabling the disable feature and that if we 'disable' then we are enabling system restore.

LOL, now that is confusing to me butI think that is what you are saying. I guess once you've read it all back to yourself a million times then it kind of makes some kind of reverse logic sense. Why can't they just put 'Enable System Restore' and 'Disable System Restore' nutz

Lol, thank you. It will be interesting to see if the settings hold now and that that is an end to the mysterious vanishing disk space. Even now, space still seems allocated. We'll see.

Hi folks

Not sure if I missed it -but I didn't see enable sybsystem for Linux in this build in programs and features - enable windows features etc -- however enabling it and the vm environment via powershell command was OK - now I see it in the windows programs and features as enabled.

Might be that I missed it but I don't think so.

Anyway it's working (WSL 2)
