I know we are going a bit off topic here, but any idea for why would they go with a CU approach this time?
Don't get me wrong, i prefer it this way.
There are some rumors about MS switching to only one major build a year.

" There are some rumors about MS switching to only one major build a year. "...............hurray ! Lets hope this rumors come true !!
We are getting tired of restoring our setting ( contextmenu , startmenu, etc, etc.....) to the way we setted it before the next build !
Twice a year is a real pain in the a** , the cumulative updates , every month, should be more then enough.............

    - don't use MS's start menu- use a 'proper' one..! Free yourself from what sounds like life-shortening stress...

Hey, it'll get a lot quieter around here with just an annual new build.. wonder how MS will keep us entertained?

I have those things mostly covered and I also run another instance as insider so I'm kinda used to it. Takes but a few minutes. Not much bother. Only question is how much of quality upgrades can they do in 6 months or less. I have feeling that much more quality can be achieved during longer periods of time.

Might I recommend Classic Shell 4.3.1 which still works after all these years.

I think that is what they are testing with 1903 in the Insider Slow Ring. They are using CU's to move it to 1909. The latest Build 18362.10019 has all the 1909 features turned on.

I have it on one Laptop and works great although I have not looked into all the changes yet.
It will be interesting to see the transition to the 1909 build when it is released and I leave the Insider program.

I am guesting it will change to 18363.xxx but how it is done I don't know.

Although it's named 1909, no feature update has ever been released in the month in which the final code was fixed. Usually it's at least a month later after it has been through the Release Preview ring, 1903 was not released until 21s May. 1909 is currently still with the Insiders in both the slow ring and release preview. To get an idea of the progress towards 1909's release, keep an eye on the 19H2 news threads. When? My guess would be late October, early November.
The places I looked at says it's closer than we think because they use a 'seeker' method, whatever that means. Some say a September release, and some calling it the "October Update". I don't know what to think. I don't know why some outlets said earlier this month it would be released soon, or why it's so hard to just write "Autumn" instead if they are not exactly sure. I will do backup and stuff later this month, because I honestly doubt it will be released within 12 days.
