Anyone else having issues with printers. Some Windows PC's cannot find an ethernet network printer. Seeing this across several PC's and on several networks.
I can print to an ethernet connected network printer but I can no longer print to a printer connected to a Windows 7 PC on the network. It acts like it's printing but doesn't engage the spooler and nothing prints. The trouble shooter says it's all working correctly. I'm using a work around. :)

Maybe this can help. Mostly check the sections entitled "Windows Woes" & "Software, Hard Times" in the following article:

Update Causes High Memory Usage, Edge and Search Not Functional

Update KB4515384 causes high memory usage (shown on mine under Cortana), Edge no longer launches, and Search Bar not functional. Understand Microsoft has fixed the high memory usage, but the other two issues remain. Remove the Update and all reverts back to normal.

This update caused my machine to BSOD, repeatedly. Uninstalled it and now my system is stable again.

I am not saying this is your problem but it seems like Microsoft have had problems with their metadata servers lately. The last week I have seen problems with metadata refresh every now and then in the event viewer, like:

"Event 131, DeviceSetupManager: Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070057 for container xxxxx"

This happen on a lot of different computers, it is not tied to the update in this thread but rather to that MS Device Metadata Servers don't reply --> printers don't work.

If you read somewhere to change 'DeviceMetadataServiceURL' in registry, please don't. The path there is correct but sometimes the linked server just isn't online. It ususally works again the day after but, as mentioned, the last week this service seem to have been a bit "jumpy".

If you suffer from this problem you can provoke the error by going to Devices and Printers in Control Panel and press F5 (Refresh) and then check the Event Viewer logs.

Hi Fredrik;1720419, I gotten this DeviceSetupManager Warnings before. The one I get and I got one a couple of days ago (I get it very rarely), I know is not tied to the update, is #201. I am familiar with this Warning, as in my case I got it sometimes in the past when I plug in a flash drive. My flash drives are set up to run sandboxed automatically under Sandboxie in a sandbox with no internet access allowed. The sense I made of this Warnings in the past was that Windows wanted to connect when plugging the flash drive, perhaps to update something, but couldnt because Sandboxie did not allow the connection. I usually see this Warning once and dont see it again for months.

One computer downloaded the September updates and waited for me to restart the computer to install them. Other computer still says "pending download" after three days and seems if it wants me to manually initiate the download. Haven't checked the others.

Why has Win 10 update become so scattered since the 1903 update? One of the features they touted was how all updates would be automatic, no picking and choosing etc. Seems they completely reversed that and to boot updates don't act the same across systems.
