all went well and search seems to work at first then after about 20 to 30min i cant search anymore my start menu slows down considerably and i cant do anything!!!

When i start typing nothing happens in the start menu...

I have already done the registry fixes from last patch that stuffed things up and also tried the replacing of the cache files in cortana as per last time... ran O&O SHUTUP 10 but nothing seems to fix this...

Anyone having similar issues and any ideas as to what to do to sort this out.

    thanking you in advance.

If you have this window open, showing the check for updates, and updates are running and then close the settings and open to this section again you get this nice blank page and you have no idea about the update progress. Had this happen on my laptop and my desktop PCs.

The lack of an MSRT update makes this update seem a little less tedious to wait for because everything on the docket has percentages for installation progress.

Just throwing out a theory which may not have anything to it, but I wonder if they decided to include the .NET update today and decided that an MSRT update wasn't as important compared to the 3 updates. I think MSRT updates never require restarts anyways, so if one pops up this month, it'll be like how the platform updater for the antimalware thing shows up on some random non-Tuesday and you don't really notice it until you see the log.

I'm getting SFC errors (about MSFT files) after this update again - trying to fix with DISM.

The MSRT is not really an update in the classical sense of a Windows code update, or security update. It's simply a replacement for the standalone Malicious Removal Tool, with hard-coded definitions. The download just receives it and runs it, hence the lag time. It appears to be "installing" or "updating" something, when in fact it's just running a silent Defender type scan. Nothing more. You could go get the latest pre-defined MSRT any time and run it, or run the monthly one again any time you wish.

I lost my Start menu after KB4512941 was installed. Tried all the fixes I could find, none helped. Finally restored my latest Macrium image and all is well. If you are not doing image backups you need to start ASAP.

I'm updating my backup now before applying the today's WU.

I have an Acronis image backup of yesterday afternoon that i can go back too if required. i do daily backups so that's nailed down.

My issue is getting this menu search thing sorted once and for all... Come on MS get this put to bed!!!

Downloaded and installed smoothly, knock on wood. :)

The sfc scannow even reported no errors.
scannow never seems to work for me.

It's always can't complete the requested etc...

I always have to go into safe mode and then there are no integrity violations.

    Why???
