What happened to the Favorites dropdown button?

This button will be in the new Edge, for the moment it's being tested in the Canary and Dev versions:

One of the small features of the old Edge (which several users had requested) has been added to the new Edge, the favorites button on the toolbar.

In the Beta click on the ... at top right and select Favorites.

Hopefully, the option to "pin" any given sub-folder to the browser window (as in original Edge) will be provided/restored. Drilling down through "deep" folder structures is very very tedious...

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does this overwrite stable Edge, or can you have two Edges with this beta?

They are separate. Both are available.

Edge still won't sync with my mobile version.

You can have all 4 running concurrently and SxS - I do.

And using an app called Browser Chooser 2, I can intercept URLs from programs and choose which one I want to open each one in.

Well, this is a start in the right direction, at least it isn't Windows 10 dependent, BUT

compared to Chrome or Firefox it is light years behind, unable to create or select themes is needed, not the light/dark crappola it offers. I can't seem to get it to accept a custom home page. Extensions are non-existent, I thought back when... they said Edge would be able to use Chrome extensions. Am I misinformed?

At this point I see zero compelling reason to use it on a normal basis. It does have sync, but how well that works is yet to be proved.

Chrome has a nice feature to create a short cut tab that places it on your home page, if it did that, I might consider using it

I go right to the chrome extension page with it and it will install any theme or extension that you can install in chrome. If you set a chrome window and edge chromium window side by side on my desktop you will see they look the same.

What I don't like is that when it syncs it doesn't hold the same level of settings that chrome does so I'm forced to fiddle with it more to get it back to normal. For instance; chrome and ff both retain all of my installed apps so when I reinstall the browsers they sync up and reinstall all of the apps for me. Edge forces you to remember what you had and perform this task manually.
