@Linkpa If I remember correctly, John, Simrick uninstalled and it still wouldn't work, and then she did something else. I think. I've PM'd her to see exactly what she did.
Download Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology (Intel(R) RST) User Interface and Driver
Purpose
The Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) Driver 17.5.2.1024 supports the configuration and enabling of multiple features including:
- System acceleration with Intel® Optane™ memory
- Configuration and maintenance of RAID 0/1/5/10
- Intel® RST
Note: Contact your system manufacturer prior to installing these applications or requesting technical support from Intel. They may provide software that is specifically configured for your system.
Which file to choose?
- SetupOptaneMemory.exe
- Specifically designed and optimized to support system acceleration with Intel® Optane™ memory modules
- SetupRST.exe
- Supports system acceleration with Intel® Optane™ memory in addition to advanced features such as management of RAID 0/1/5/10 volumes.
- f6flpy-x64.zip (64-bit Operating System) / f6flpy-x86.zip (32bit Operating System):
- Standalone Intel® RST Drivers with Intel® Optane™ memory support
- May be required during Operating System (OS) installation to detect PCIe* NVMe* drive, refer to system manufacturer documentation or Intel Customer Support
The RST (Rapid Storage Drive and software) is multi-purpose. It contains drivers and a Software App. The App is unnecessary if you do not have Optane memory, which used for the acceleration aspect of the "Rapid" part. But, the driver itself may be needed to support NVMe SSDs on a PCIe. That is precisely what I have. I have the driver, but uninstalled the Software App. I do not have RAID, but the OEM configured the NMVe Samsung 961 as RAID0, so I must have the driver, true RAID or not.
If the installation fails due to requiring an update to the RST driver, you need to update the IASTORAC.SYS, Then, before installation, go into C:\Windows\System32\drivers. If there are 2 there, rename the oldest to IASTORAC_OLD.SYS. Use a "_", not a ".". Reboot.
