    Updating report...Problems encountered.
1st.... computer locked while "getting things ready".
2nd.... Updating completed then the dreaded message "undoing changes made....."
3rd.... UUPDump install failed due to OxC1900101-0x20017.
4th.....Update worked after 1st and 2nd tries failed....
All this without my making any changes whatsoever to the computer.....how to explain this I have no idea.

I can only think that the failed first three attempts made some changes to the system which allowed it to be installed fourth time round.

    Strange things are happenin' . . .

Reading this thread, I decided maybe I should update via the UUPDump route. After 33 minutes, failure was reported.

So, I decided to see what WU would do, not expecting any miracles.

Well, Download, Install, Download, Install without any notification in between. Second Download, Install worked.

And, WU worked the first time on Little Lenovo.

So, two updates done. Now to examine them to see what's what.

We used to eagerly install new Builds with the anticipation of testing awesome new features...,

now we trepidatiously install new Builds to see what's fubar'd!!!

I tried using Windows update on my desktop last night. I didn't time it because I was doing something else at the time. It got to 63% installed and stayed there for a long time. It was late so I decided to let it do it's thing and went to bed. When I check this morning it was still at 63%. The mouse cursor would move but nothing else would work so I hit the restart button on the computer. Then I mounted a ISO made with UUPDownloader. It took over 3 hours but 18963 installed and seems to be running OK. I'm getting ready to try my laptop next.

The UWP folder is nowhere to be found; doesn't retain jumplists!

The notepad.exe you have to fetch from System32, because it's not present in the Start Menu shortcuts folder, is different! ::
