Hello, my name is Zhang and I am a Program Manager on the Office Natural Language Experiences team. I would like to share a new feature called Rewrite in Word.

Ever found yourself repeating phrases or looking for better expressions when writing in Word? Check out Rewrite in Word to quickly find alternative expressions for phrases in your writing.

    How it works

Select and right-click a short phrase that you want to change, and click Rewrite (Preview).

The Rewrite pane will open on the right side of your document, and will include both the original sentence (on the top) and the rewrite suggestion (on the bottom).

When you hover over the suggestion, you will also see a live preview (yellow highlight) in your document to help you evaluate the suggestion in the context of the original sentence. If you like one of the suggestions, you can simply click on it to change your sentence accordingly.

To make the feature more accessible, you can find Read Aloud features in the drop-down menu on the right side of each suggestion.

And if you think a certain suggestion is inappropriate, you can always report it back to us for review, via Report this suggestion in same drop-down menu.

    Requirements

    • The feature is available for 50% of users running Insider builds on Windows, starting from build 1908 (11901.20018). If you do not see it yet, don’t worry, you’ll get access to it soon!
    • Requires an Office 365 subscription.
    • This feature only supports English for now.

    Feedback

If you have any feedback or suggestions, you can submit them using the Help Improve Office ( ) button in the top right corner of Word. We’re excited to hear from you!

With the Office Insider newsletter you can get the information latest about features just like Rewrite in your inbox once a month! Head to Office Insiders to sign up!

    Hi there

Robo-journalism rears its ugly head again.

Probably the next profession to be replaced by Robots.

Much as people like to rant and complain about journalists (I think they are on a par with Used car salesmen at the bottom of the heap in public perception of "bad things") the good ones do a really good job in uncovering Govt scams, and other things that should be bought to public attention etc etc.

Even today it's the first thing any Dictator tries to do is to close down the Free Press.

I Love the idea of A.I but we need to keep a handle on this - and carefully.

Didn't the great late Stephen Hawking suggest that A.I was probably a greater threat to Humans than even Nuclear War.

Stephen Hawking says AI could be '''worst event''' in civilization

    Cheers
