Dunno, Simrick, but he has the Support Team eating out of his hands, even when he tested leaked versions of Windows 10 builds.

The Fix originated on Microsoft answers or TechNet - Edwin posted it here - many thanks - it is simply the Windows 8.1 registry keys that need merging back into the registry because some Microsoft Windows Developer in a late preview version like TH1, had left a stub of code in the Registry that meant that Windows Photo Viewer was never the default Here's my take on it:

Yeah, I think that's sort of where the 'fix' originated.

No, because it is not actually a program - it is an executable DLL that's invoked when an image file is clicked on. -A strange leftover from Windows XP Picture and Fax Viewer, the foreunner of WPV:

The idea was, a fax came in and you clicked on it to view it - because faxes were images, you needed a quick viewer that you could zoom and print from

Well, thanks for all the help everyone. I had to bookmark another page just to get it back. So I have it for reference for the future, but wow, why, this was in all the TP's we were using without a problem, why in the RTM was this removed and I missed it? ....

Is this a known problem by Microsoft? Is it coming back in SR1 next week or is this gone for good? Forced by Microsoft to use PHOTO "APP" ??

I figure they were trying to 'bully' the Photos App as default so it would work across all devices.
