    Desktop and Laptop PC's are the biggest user base for Win 10 and will be for some time to come. Even apple have a separate OS for their Phones/Pads and their computers. I understand MS wanting to get a piece of the lucrative App pie that Apple and Google have been enjoying for some time, but we want a system that we can make it how we like it.

    Most of my time is spent in front of 2D/3D (Photoshop/LightWave) and screen colour and real estate are important, i tend to like dark themes as do many. I want to be able to have the font colour i want, the ribbon and title bar colour and size that i want. No one in my business is going touch screen any time soon, its mouse, keyboard and pen tablet (Wacom) for the foreseeable future.

    MS Surface i hear you say, not until its got a sever overhaul and is powerful enough, with enough memory (32GB min) and a screen of at least 27 inches will it ever grace my desk, wacom have that covered at the moment.
    It is unlikely you will get your wish. In order to enhance performance to the extent that even lower powered hardware performs more snappily than it did in heavyweights like 7 and Vista, appearance and customization options have been severely cut back, and will continue to do so as legacy desktop features such as the control panel and Administrative tools get subsumed into Windows modern settings.

    Perhaps Microsoft is secretly working on a "Desktop Shell"* app that will run on top of Windows to give back the customizability of Windows versions of the mid to late Noughties, at a price of course, requiring the sort of hardware resources that you aspire to! I doubt it, though.

    *Microsoft cannot use that name, though - It was a bit of fun from IBM in about 1995 that made Windows 3.1 look exactly like OS/2.1, by replacing Program Manager, the Windows front end, with IBM's OS/2 Desktop lookalike.

    Windows Photo Viewer got lost in the RTM - there's a reg hack to get it back.

    Wait, are you saying that if you do a clean intall of W10 RTM, Windows Photo Viewer has been removed and you need to do a reg hack posted by Edwin to get it back? Are you being serious now or you f-ing kidding me?

    Yes.. he's not lying.. you have to do a fast reg hack to get it back. But it's simple to copy and paste the instructions into a text file and save it as a .reg file. Then you merge it and finally you can associate it with a file like a gif or jpeg.. and it works.
