I'd only be too happy if KB4505903 stopped re-installing itself, for the THIRD time in my update history as of this morning (7/25)
Is this KB already installed (you are on xxxxx.266 already)?

If so, temporarily stop and disable WindowsUpdate service, go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete everything in that folder. Then reboot Windows, re-enable WUService and check for updates manually.

    Hopefully that fixes your issue.

Thanks for the quick reply slicendice, I will try that and report back soon. Yes it shows 3 installations of it on my update history over the past week, I am at version 18362.267 currently. I awoke this morning to find my PC requesting yet another restart after this latest automatic re-installation.

    You're welcome.

Seems I also have a lot of these updates on 2 of my machines, Maybe they are just all different minor fixes to same issue? I'm installing 4th CU now.

Yeah I was thinking same thing. I guess I need to just be happy that I'm actually receiving the updates automatically, despite their multiple instances of the same KB number in my update history !

I think this is a collection of registry tweaks and cleanups. Because the Windows registry is huge, they might be changing stuff in small steps, so they don't crash the whole OS if something goes wrong.

This would also make sense why these update are quite slow to install.

Yes good thoughts. Thanks again. I will definitely resist the urge to do any further registry or other tweaks on my end. I need to remember my personal #1 rule, "Don't fix it if it ain't broke"

Hahah, good rule of thumb. I never tweak anything, everything is default, except for some minor tweaks in Settings.

I installed this latest KB and went from .266 to .267 and no more updates. I think these updates are exactly as I said.
