Triple boot - Win 10 Pro, Win 10 Pro Insider (2) - (and a sprinkling of VMs)
       #190

My 2 VM's installed just fine. My 2 physical machines rolled back so many times they've worn the tread off.

I'm just gonna call mine 18398.5 and be done with it!

Clearly... she is not talking about "the rest of us" whose install(s) go without a hitch!! She is talking about those/us who have real problems with installs sometimes.
I know that but it's curious how come some got it easy way, some not so easy (multiple tries or by ISO) and some can't install it at all.

My 2 VMs upgraded just fine. Went from the 5 months old 18841 build to 18941 without a glitch. I wonder if one of the 189xx builds broke something that makes the upgrade fail for some!?

Maybe its just VM's update without issues as they have no real hardware or drivers issues for updates to contend with.

Nah, I've had a lot of issues with VMs in the past too. Even clean install would not work. Made no sense what so ever. But yeah, a VM certainly removes some of the possible issues one may encounter. Especially hardware issues, but usually the issue has been Windows itself.

Ummm, could y'all point me to the post you're talking about? I'm lost as a goose.

    Edit: Ummm, found it.

Now there's a post full of vitriol if ever I saw one

Ya know what? There are lots and lots of things I have no interest in. To me, games are an absolute waste of my time. To a gamer, they're some of the best life has to offer. Where do I get off telling Microsoft they should spend less time on ridiculous periferal things like games?

And guess what ... there are folks who like their emojis. I like 'em and play with them a lot while talking to friends and family on Skype. It's fun to add a little funny face to a statement. Are they a necessary part of Windows? Heck no! But, neither are games! Also, when it comes right down to it, I'm pretty sure Microsoft bought the majority of emojis/emoticons included in Windows, rather than have their engineers create 'em.

Then there's Paint, which has been a part of Windows for years and years (not always called Paint). Microsoft had a brainstorm (or was that a brain fart?) gave us Paint 3D and told us Paint would be removed from Windows. Nope, not a necessary part of Windows; many, many, many far better 3rd party graphics apps. However, Microsoft changed their mind about removing it when a huge number of people started to object about Paint's removal.
What did I say to upset you, Doogie? I thought I was defending everyone's right to have this or that part of Windows; don't take it out just because I don't care for it.

    Foudn a good write up:

The blog post that it links to does not redirect correctly - I'm searchign for all of Gabe's blogs, seems M$ has (re)moved them for some reason.

    But read the comments:
Oh, do I remember that one, John! Everyone was elated that we would get a free copy of Windows 10, then Gabe came back and burst the bubble! He had made a mistake. IIRC, the post Gabe had made was changed without notice and no one could find it again. At least I couldn't.

And it didn't matter so much to those who already had Windows 7/8 and were planning to upgrade anyway. I think I had three copies of Windows 7 I won through various programs at that time. And everything from TechNet, so I was covered.

Yep, I got 18936 the easy way and wasn't aware of the problem until I read the Known Issues of 18941. I went for it (because 18936 had installed correctly), and it also installed the easy way. :)

Nah, Techquest. I don't do VMs. All of my installations are hardware related and both 18936 and 18941 installed the first try. Who knows what the real problem is ...
