Many Thanks Try3 and Anak for all your help and advice.
Anak, after you said it may be risky to leave the sfc scan errors alone and just wait for Microsoft to fix it., I decided to fix it myself.
In my case. I ran sfc /scannow. It pointed me to the CBS log file as it reported errors that couldn't be fixed.
    I didn't restart my PC. I just typed dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.
    DISM reported everything repaired successfully.
Then, I rebooted my PC and ran sfc /scannow again. Everything is sorted now and back to normal.
Try3...For future reference Ive made a note of all the search strings you gave me to type into Administrator Command Prompt if needed in the future.
    Cheers guys

You might be able to set up a batch file to send the results of the newest SFC scan as a .txt file to your desktop but you'd have to ask one of the other guys about making one as .bat files was something I never got into, I run 'em but I don't build 'em.

About "to type into Administrator Command Prompt" - Extracting data from the CBS log by using these findstr commands does not need elevated permission so you can use an ordinary Command prompt.

And don't bother retyping the commands. In the note you have made, alter the path & filename to suit yourself and then you can just copy form that note into a Command prompt window.

Command prompt windows have paste etc commands in a menu you can see when you click its top left-hand corner icon.
Or you can just copy from your note then use Ctrl-V to paste into the Command prompt window.

I know what you mean. I haven't a clue about .bat files either lol

Thanks again mate. Ive put the commands into a file on my PC so its easily available for copy and pasting into the Command Prompt. Ive used that menu in the top left hand corner of the Command Prompt before so Im familiar with that

    sportsfan,

I've just lost ten minutes typing because the post failed to post.

You can use those findstr commands in batch files if you want.
You can also use them in shortcuts without even bothering to create any batch files.

If you want to use the commands in batch files or in shortcuts then tell me and I'll write it up again.

But right now I'm knackered and I'm going round the corner to the chippie.

Windows 10 Command Prompt supports Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V as well as selecting text with the mouse then right clicking on it to copy

Thanks Denis but you've no need to take the trouble to type those commands up for me. Its easy enough to just copy and paste them into the command prompt when I need them. Like I said, when you gave me those findstr commands earlier I copied them over to a Document on my PC for safe keeping.
I hope you enjoyed your fish and chips and and managed to relax for a bit. Thanks again mate for all your help. I don't know where I'd be without Tenforums. Since I joined, Ive learned so much from you guys who spend so much of your time helping people on here
