Actually, we do here as well. But in the age of twitter, SMS and folks just not giving a care anymore, spelling has gone out the window - so gibberish is now seen just as often spelled with a g as it is with a j.
It's Gibberish here in Ireland and we're the world experts in Gibberish.

I'm not certain, but windows.old may be compressed. That would match closely to the size difference. Next time, check the windows.old folder to see if it's all blue, indication compressed. Actually, I'm getting ready to update a VM 18922>18932. I'll check it before cleanup.
That would be interesting. Thanks @f14tomcat

I am in the middle of doing the same thing right now with UUPDump .iso, but not on a VM. I just wanted to thank you for the pointer regarding Windows.old being all blue if compressed. Something I got to check when it is all over.

Well, it's a little compressed. My Windows folder itself is, but the .old doesn't appear to be. Here's a TreeSize showing right after Desktop came up. Left column is allocated size, right is "Explorer" size, for lack of a better term.

It could also be that it's a VM, so jury is still out. Like to see a non-VM. Don't care if it's TreeSize or Windirstat or apple pie a-la-mode.

2 more pics before I clean it up. Redmond Math is confusing, at best..... 2 different answer to the same question.

    @f14tomcat,

My upgrade process from 18922 to 18932 is not over yet. I will probably post back about Windows.old if everything is successful.

Just finished and successful (sort of). So many things to say...I don't even know where to begin. First thing first:

    Winver shows:
    New Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast+Skip Build 18932 (20H1) - July 3-winver-after-installing-os-build-18932.png
Windows.old, according to what I can see is not compressed. Brink's tutorial says the following:

NTFS compressed files and folders will have double blue arrows overlay on their icon at the top right corner to indicate that they are compressed.
Compress or Uncompress Files and Folders in Windows 10

No double blue arrows overlay in my case:

    New Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast+Skip Build 18932 (20H1) - July 3-windows.old-not-compressedpng.png

As to the discrepancy between the amount of GB removed from Windows.old and what is actually showing in File Explorer's C:\ Drive after removal belongs to Redmond's math, as you put it. Go figure!

What I found really interesting though is the fact that, I have tried the same exercise with Windows Update to upgrade to OS Build 18932 when it first came out, the result was that I couldn't use my mice (2): Logitech MX Master & M510. Why on earth after using UUPDump .iso everything is working just fine. I know UUPDump has direct access to MS's servers, but the reason why things don't work in the case of the former and do in the case of the latter is beyond me.

Finally, the search bar in File Explorer contrary to what is being said in first page of this thread is still a no-show for me:
