Figures don't add up. Prior to getting rid of Win.old - drive showing 172 GB free. Removing Win.old, showing as 21.6 GB, the drive now shows as having only 181 GB free??
I think Windows.old is like WinSXS almost impossible to size properly. You get a similar discrepancy when clearing Windows Update. It often says several GB will be cleared when it is in reality only a few hundred MB goes.

I think you're right. When initially ran storage, temporary files was just showing about 12 GB if I remember correctly then running temp files showed Win.old at 21 GB.

Your next step might be by running windirstat to see what the drive is using the space for

    WinDirStat - Windows Directory Statistics

    Everything looks ok,

You can narrow the field by clicking on the plus signs.
I believe (never tried it myself) you can run it in Administrator mode to reveal any hidden files.

I've noticed the boot time (fast start) seems improved on this build and is back around the 17 second mark for me. Previously with the other builds it had crept up a little to around 20 second.

It's ok lol, if ever u need a place to chill in montreal, more than welcome. Salut!
Thanks! I used to (as a child) Live in Guelph, ON - and I am a child of the snow, so living in the southern US is particularly painful to me - I get hot at anything over 75F (basically anything over 24C) and during hte summer months, sometimes it never goes below that for the entire day. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

It was a joke. PS in UK we would consider Jibberish to be Gibberish - lol.
Actually, we do here as well. But in the age of twitter, SMS and folks just not giving a care anymore, spelling has gone out the window - so gibberish is now seen just as often spelled with a g as it is with a j.

    @Edwin

Back to the future !!!!! WinXP allowed you to have 4 sepearte desktops (with individual apps etc) OK -- so nothing new here particularly

actually with bigger monitors and multiple monitor use I think that feature would be really useful again

XP shown here with ability to switch to 4 desktops !!

    Cheers

Technically, though, Windows 10 has it native - with previous versions of Windows you still had to use an app / hack the interface in order to make it accessible. In XP, for example, it was though the use of the M$ PowerToys addons:

    https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...on-windows-xp/

And there is a standalone for all Win <10:

Don't Wait for Windows 10: How to Use Virtual Desktops in Windows XP and Up

Whereas in 10, it's fully native:

Use the site UUPDUMP.ml to make your own .ISO. Then you mount it from within Windows Explorer and manually install.
Thank you! Worked perfectly. Appreciate the help.
    You're very welcome!

Use diskcleanup to remove your old System Restore points (and you're better off making a manual one first, particularly if you are happy with the way things are working, before doing this).

That too, will help - but it is not for the faint of heart. A backup, at this point, would be a good thing before tinkering with potential system boot failure because a suspiciously large file that you remove was, in fact, needed....

I haven't booted my machine in so long, I've forgotten what is normal.

And for yesterday and today, I turned it on and went downstairs to make coffee - literally. Gotta have my Kona.

But that also means I have 0 clue on how long it is taking to boot....

If you were a Montreal Canadiens player/fan then it might. I guess talking gibberish can open a can of worms anywhere.

Is this what you're talking about, Steven? Trying to figure out if I have it, or maybe missing mine too . . .

I'm not certain, but windows.old may be compressed. That would match closely to the size difference. Next time, check the windows.old folder to see if it's all blue, indication compressed. Actually, I'm getting ready to update a VM 18922>18932. I'll check it before cleanup.
