I don't think you can at this stage of the cycle without a clean install.
Yes, I know. My comment way back yesterday on the second post was 99.99999% rhetorical. I meant nothing by it or in any way suggest a downgrade should be done. I know it can't be. Again, sorry for all the confusion.

Since I now have the same build on my Fast and Skippy machines, I'd really like to have 18362.1000. But not enough to commit to the work and time that would be involved in installing all the extra software and doing custom settings after I did a clean install. I can't understand why MS ever went to 20H1 on Fast since that wasn't the logical next step. 19H2 was.

I guess because they wanted to change to one upgrade plus a "service pack" per year.

That definitely would be a better approach than 2 FUs/year involving all the commotion with the bugs.

Confirming 19H2 as a Service Pack:

Let's list important points about 19H2 at the end:
    • 19H2 will be a minor feature update for Windows 10 like a service pack.
    • 19H2 will not contain major features. It'll contain fixes and improvements.
    • 19H2 will be released in September 2019.
    • 19H2 will be released via Windows Update like a monthly update.
    • 19H2 will not be a huge 4GB+ full ISO build. It'll be small in size like normal updates.
    • 19H2 might be called Windows 10 September 2019 Update version 1909 at release time.

That's definitely a good decision and wise move from Microsoft. Having 2 big feature updates every year was complicated and annoying. People had to download and install huge ISO files or builds. Now one major feature update and one minor service pack like feature update sounds good finally.

Next Feature Update 19H2 to be Small Service Pack Release for Windows 10:

Hey Gang - I am interested in updating to .1000 on my laptop. Right now, I'm on 18362.145.

I was thinking originally to update to 18362.207 but this update to .1000 piques my interest. BTW, I'm not an insider anymore.

    My questions:
    1) For those who have installed this upgrade, for a person like myself, is there any benefits to do the upgrade (additional features, better performance, etc.?)

    2) Are you able, after upgrading to .1000 to opt out of insider program & stay at 18362.1000 or do you need to restore backup back to 18362.145 (.175)??

Really appreciate this forum & the wonderful people who help people like myself, though not a real newbie per sa, but still need help with more technical stuff from people who have more experience with Windows 10.

TIA for any & all replies!

    - Ray
1: No new features, it's more like testing Cumulative updates. You have to go to fast ring for anything new. But even there nothing excited right now.

2: When you join Insider, you'll have to wait for the next major update, For Slow, this will happen in September

Have successfully completed the slow ring insider upgrade to 18363.10000 and the first thing I notice is that the shortcut options are back in the Settings header.

Yeah, same here, but mine re-appeared just before the update. So nothing to do with this update directly.

    Hi folks

It's easy to install this as an upgrade (or a new install) without joining any rings --install either as a VM or on normap physical machines. You can even install this straight from an old 1803 build.

Simply go to the UUPDUMP side, choose build, language and edition(s) you want and select the download and convert. extract the files (7Z/unzip or whatever) and run the command --it will create an iso which you can then use.

For older releases remove any external USB HDD's/SSD's/thumb drives and SD cards in internal card readers and just install --upgrade should work --it did for me on 2 laptops and a test VM.

    Cheers
