I think so. Earlier it said it was updating to 1903...

I may just leave my PC running tonight and do the restart in the morning... *sigh*
    Unpredictability was predictable.

I got the same when trying to update to 1903.
It first updated to the latest 1809, rebooted and when I checked again for updates I got 1903, which installed without any issue.
Ok I rebooted but it didn't give me the choice of upgrading to 1903 and now says I'm running 1809....

    Well, that's one step.

Last time I was two releases behind it was several hours between updates. 1903 is being very picky so it may take longer.

    You're both right!
Okay once again I'm given the option of installing 1903...

If I get some time today, I'll connect other computer with 1803 and see if it would update to 1809 at least. Have some friends from motorcycle club coming for BBQ and will be drowning in bear.

    Hi folks

I upgraded a machine from a really early release of windows 10 (17XX) to 1903 in one go without any problems whatsover -- was an old Sony Vaio laptop with Intel Pentium IV processor -- I did use though the UUPMethod and had to burn the ISO to an actual DVD because that laptop for some reason didn't like booting from a USB stick --although BIOS does allow it to boot from a USB device. The sony VAIO laptop still has a physical built in DVD device.

Unless you are specifically testing Windows WU procedures I would suggest always going the UUPDUMP route if you are either not getting presented with the update or it fails for various reasons.

If you have a few machines to update then using UUPDUMP saves downloads on these machines too.

If UUPDUMP fails to work then you really do have a problem with the way your hardware / software is configured so maybe a clean install is the only solution.

However always take a backup before doing any major updates or making big changes.

    Cheers

I am seeing this problem on 2 pc's also. Please tell me where View_0.xml is located. Thanks.
    View_0.xml is located here C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Event Viewer\Views

I had this error with Event Viewer and can confirm deleting that file solved the problem Shame on Microsoft for shoddy software QA.
