There's Linux/anti-Windows fanatics and then there are those who use the right tool for the job no matter which OS it's running on.

    Which one are you?

Both are tools, my main use for Linux is Live with persistence on USB and with it assorted tools. Permanently installed Mint is just to keep my hand in Linux and odd jobs better done in Linux.

    Hi,
I'm the third that gets a good chuckle when someone pulls out their rear end and says Linux is somehow superior security wise

Yeah, Linux used to be the superior one regarding security, but now I believe the roles has changed.

There are however ways to make Linux insanely secure, but that's way beyond normal distributions and their default packages.

That's the issue with majority of users comparing Linux security to Windows security. On Windows they run the equivalent account to SU or Root under Linux, but in Linux they have a "normal" user account that can't affect much in the system except their user folder.

One should run Windows as Admin only to configure the OS and after that run as a standard user. No need to input any other passwords anywhere after that except during login. Admin and User are two separate things, but most users don't want to use Standard accounts.

Anyways, this is the main reason many think Linux is more secure. Run Linux as Root all the time and you have a big freaking security hole.

Out-of-the-box Linux is still more secure... it's insane to run it as root... that's akin to runing Windows as TrustedInstaller.

Admin is more like SU I think..

    Despite what Microsoft says...
This is not mitigated as of version 18362.175

Error attempting to update with external USB device or memory card attached
PCs with an external USB device or SD memory card attached may get error: "This PC can't be upgraded to Windows 10."
