Have you tried a re-boot, and shouldn't that virtual disk service be set to manual?

    That is my suspicion.

This shouldn't be happening, a service set to manual shouldn't start automatically on restart and unprovoked !!! Something must be triggering it at start. What ? Going to disable it all together and see.

    Happy Hunting!

Could it be possible the VMWare is starting it?

Killt it dead with first shot and now VM Ware works fine. Speaking of hunting, recent floods of river Sava brought out some wild hogs from a nearby reserve on river island and now they can be seen all over the place, even at lower parts of Belgrade. Lol, where's Asterix when you need him ?

You are right. with that service disabled, Disk management can't start, with it enabled (even on manual) it starts with windows and VM Ware can't run properly. Now the question is why does it start with windows while set at manual. I didn't start Disk management at all and in any case, service should shut down when it's starting program is shut down.
If all those premises are true, something (probably maintenance) is starting it at login.

CountMike, it is what Windows calls a "Feature". Less involvement by owners.

    If that's a feature, I'd rather have a bug

If they call them bugs then they won't pass the success criteria for the release. That impacts year end performance pay.
