I used the Media Creation Tool because the normal update method stalled out and died. Oh well, it still took hours and hours.
The only time I've seen it take even close to that long was on a system with a very old hard drive that barely passed SMART.

I don't see how slow internet would have much of an impact with an upgrade/update performed from an ISO image, USB, or Optical media that has already been downloaded.

Well, Comcast is supposed to be fairly fast at 100 Mbps and my 7200 RPM HD appears fast when creeping around on the Net or compiling my astronomical programs, so fancy externals drives and what-not will not speed up the updates all that much. After the ISO downloads at a reasonable time period then install just takes too long. If someone has a magic PC then good for them, but everyone I know bitches about the MS updates taking too long.

    Hi,
If you are connected to the internet the iso installer will still check for updates.
If installing from iso disconnect from the internet will save time.

    Windows Hello Mystery

Anyone else seeing this issue? I'm on a Dell Latitude 5285, and upgraded to 1903. At first Hello didn't work at all, but after I manually updated the cameras, Hello started working as it did on 1809. However, I can't change anything in Hello now.

Does your pc use intel realsense camera module for windows hello?
Bacause 1903 still has unresolved problems with intel SR300 and s200 realsense cameras.
I have camera that uses SR300 module and I somehow got offered windows 1903 via windows update recently, even when it says that problem only mitigated but not resolved on Microsoft page.

If you have Realsense camera you can try one of the workarounds You can also see in device manager if your camera is intel realsense:
Disable and re-enable the driver in Device Manager. In the Search box, type "Device Manager" and press Enter. In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Cameras, then right-click on any RealSense driver listed and select Disable device. Right click on the driver again and select Enable device.
Note This workaround will only resolve the issue until your next system restart.

We are initiating the Windows 10 May 2019 Update for customers with devices that are at or nearing end of service and have not yet updated their device. Keeping these devices both supported and receiving monthly updates is critical to device security and ecosystem health. Based on the large number of devices running the April 2018 Update, that will reach the end of 18 months of service on November 12, 2019, we are starting the update process now for Home and Pro editions to help ensure adequate time for a smooth update process.

Our update rollout process takes into consideration the scale and complexity of the Windows 10 ecosystem, with the many hardware, software, and app configuration options users have, to provide a seamless update experience for all users. Getting WiFi password iusing command line, visit. We closely monitor update feedback to allow us to prioritize those devices likely to have a good update experience and quickly put safeguards on other devices while we address known issues. Windows 10 Home and Pro edition users will have the ability to pause the update for up to 35 days so they can choose a convenient time.
