Wow, this has been by far the worst experience I have had with major updates.

The Dell took about three goes at it and the pavilion dm-1 at least four. Soooo slow and error ridden.

    Amazed the comps weren't trashed.

Ouch! That is slow but I understand your situation, lol.
My internet is not much faster and my typical new build installation is about 1 hour.

!903 showed up for me again yesterday, a full week after I updated the Realtek HD driver.
Honestly speaking I very much expect it's going to be the case here as well. Just very curious that officially available (via MS Update web site) driver has possibly managed to strike 1903 update option for me. Oh well.

Meanwhile got another Realtek driver updated yesterday as well

Realtek PCIe FE / GBE / 2.5G / Gaming Ethernet Family Controller Software - REALTEK

    So, let's see!

I clicked on "Install Now".......and then a short Definition Update for Windows Defender downloaded and installed.....then "Checking for updates"............"You're up to date"
    1903 wasn't being offered to me anymore ??? ...
That usually means that a 'blocking issue' has been found for your PC's particular hardware/software. Best to wait until MS resolve the issue when 1903 will be offered again.

Hey guys, I just spent 2 hours waiting for Windows 10 1903 to install, but it gave me the error: "0x80240034".

For about 15minutes I couldn't even get virus definition updates for the Windows 10 inbuilt anti-virus, but it seems like the definition updates are working fine now.

How can I check that I've got the most up to date virus definitions?

    Thank you for any help!

    Hey Gang,

I would like to run an in place upgrade for 1903 (i have the latest build installed 18362.145) due to general slowness & black screens for several seconds when opening/bringing back up browsers, etc.

I noticed the Media Creator program is not updated to .145 build but still shows .1 build. Could i still use the Media Creator to do the in place upgrade, keeping my settings & apps even though i am on .145 build? If not, what are my other options?

My laptop is running fine - it's just my older desktop that's running wacky!

    TIA,

    Ray

Yes. Doing an in-place from the current MCT will pull the required updates during the process, and you will end up back on .145. You actually have to go out of your way to avoid the updates to .145. So, yes, and in place will do it.

Thanks for the quick reply Dick - much appreciated!

I installed 1903 with the .iso you provided me - installed it on April 11th. Would you recommend an in place install? Would you think the version offered in May would be improved over the one the Insiders received March 19th?

    Thanks again,

    Ray

It's the latest and greatest, will not contain any "Insider" telemetry and/or other Insider only code. It's the public (MCT), so it's your best choice. Just make the ISO on another drive if possible, mount and away you go.
