A Dell Optiplex is updating but after 45 min it is still at Getting things ready 74%. It was on 70 and 71% for 30 min or so till I realised MR was trying to backup! Cancelled that but it is still struggling on 74%. CPU is 56% and disk 94-100%!

    Like watching paint dry.

Yeah 74% was a long one for me too. Whole process take almost an hour on a reasonably quick SSD equipped pc

Updated 2 of my 4 machines in the last few days. Both via Windows update, both went smoothly, both took the same length of time (1hr + 45mins) from pressing "download and install now", until everything had fully loaded on my desktop after logging in. Boot time on the lower spec machine is noticeably longer, but not horrifically, and once up and running I think performance is equal on the lower spec machine and improved on the other. I'm pleased to see they fixed the annoying User Profile errors that started occurring with 1809, and also my Windows Defender now reports the correct time when I update from the Windows Defender app (on 1809 it was either 12 or 13 hours in the future depending on daylight savings).

Only bugs I am noticing is the malfunctioning nightlight bug (which I just read somewhere on here is fixed in an insiders update - yay!), and there is never a tick showing on the Home screen of Windows Defender for "Device performance and Health". If you click on it, it will show all green ticks against each thing in the Health Report, and the time of the last scan, but it never shows the tick on the Home screen like it used to. Oh, and now that Cortana and Search are separate entities I cannot get web results (or even have "web" listed as a search option in the menu) with my country selected correctly to NZ. In order for web results I have to lie and say I live in Australia, which then Australia-fies all my app content! This is no biggie though - I can always open a browser.

Computer 3 was a spectacular failure. Several update attempts and I cannot get past spinning dots on the second restart screen (so after configuring or preparing or whatever it said, and on to installing). It gets stuck on the black Gigabyte screen forever (tried leaving it >24hrs the first time). After two hard resets of the power button it will revert back to 1809. Going to leave that machine 1809 and see if I get offered a driver that changes things, and if not I'll have a go at a clean install (which I have never attempted before and have yet to learn how to do). I've been right through my device manager and all drivers resport up to date, SFC shows no integrity violations, nothing attached except a power cord, no malware, so no idea... Hasn't been offered up on Computer 4 yet. Might leave that one on 1809 for a bit and see how things go with the 2 updated computers after a bit more use.

Apparently it is now available to all 'seekers' who manually check for updates....

I'm in the UK too. I can confirm that both my 1809 machines that had not been offered 1903 automatically have just found it by a manual check for updates.

Bear in mind that it won't appear if there are any known blocking issues for your machine.

Ah.. That must be the catch, two of my systems have not updated yet despite numerous manual checks. I was not aware of any blocking issues but with the new Microsoft AI we will probably never know how they make that determination.

    I'm in Canada.
2 of my computers were manually updated via MCT a few days ago.
I left the 3rd one for WU.
Today, the update arrived and now installing.

Got 1903 update offered in Windows Update. After a backup (safety first) it downloaded and installed without issues.
