How to get the Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903

I had no problems using the Update wizard on two older machines (Core 2 Duo and Pentium dual). The pentium dual is on preview so has had the cumulative update to .145. I have found very few problems and deleting the previous OS in storage settings was very quick, it used to take ages. I cant run sandbox as that is a CPU limitation and night light was playing up after a shutdown but a reboot brought it back to life. Win 10 seems designed for older machines. :)

One last question before I opt for the OS reinstall...

Does anyone know what is happening at the 75% mark during the second half of the upgrade? That is where mine fails every time and begins its rollback. I know these aren't arbitrary computer percentages, because the numbers advance exactly the same on every system I've installed it (and I've been successful with four out of five so far.)

So I believe something is happening at the 75% point. I've looked through all the logs and can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.
@TheMany, did you run SetupDiag to see if you are one of the lucky ones where it gives a valid reason for failure.

I'm unaware of what is happen at 75% mark. I assume if there was a document one of the members would have posted.

    SetupDiag available here

Thanks, Ken. Yeah, I ran it yesterday and got nothing. Something about not being able to match the rollback to "any known failure signatures" but I deleted it, and all my install files and logs since.

I'm starting down the path that it might be the chipset drivers on my MSI motherboard. One guy had this problem and solved it by uninstalling the 610 drivers and then running the upgrade without rebooting.

Might yank my 2080ti and put in an old 1080ti, too. I just have so many activations for my production software and plugins, I really want to avoid a clean install. I plan on testing a fresh install on a blank hard drive to make sure this hardware will take.

    Thanks again for the idea.

I had exactly the problem you mentioned. BUT I did not do clean install.
I downloaded the iso file from MCT and burnt it to a usb drive.

I inserted the flash drive > opened it > opened the Setup and proceeded to install. Install was unable to proceed and it said the problem was either I had a sd card installed which I did not, or I had an usb drive installed.
OF COURSE I had an usb drive installed in the computer! It was used to install 1903...…. duh. How stupid was that !
So, I copied the iso into my computer (without the usb drive) > right click at the iso > Mount > Setup > Open
    That worked.
    Now I have 18362.116.
Problem with that is if you do not have enough spare space on drive to install upgrade as you need the usb for temporary space.

Having said that, I upgraded via an iso stored on my usb and did not get the usb error message.

To elaborate my post #539, here is the MS article regarding the installation problem I had...…

Windows Update blocked because of inappropriate drive reassignment

    I used the Work-around method...…………
If you are using a installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) created by a tool to install Windows 10, copy the files on the installation media to your local drive, and then start the installation from the local drive.

Booted up Toshiba laptop, which I updated to 1903 build 18362.116 a few days ago, and left task manager running to check when the spinner usage dies down from 100%. (Will be updating to an SSD soon). Left it for under an hour and when I came back to it - it was frozen. Fan running but no keyboard and mouse. Power button shutdown then booted up again. Nothing showing in Event Viewer and SFC ok. Might be a one off glitch hopefully.

    hey all!
I installed the 1903 update on my desktop and everything when smoothly, but when i tried to install on my laptop it gave me that notification that i could not install the update, I even googled the problem and i found out about that problem with usb drives and sd cards, but even though my laptop does have an SD card reader i dont have any card inserted in it and the update still doesnt get through, i even tried to unninstall the sd card reader driver but the OS still doesnt update, should I wait for an update from MS on 1809 or is there some way i can force the update, since i've tried the creaton tool app and the windows 10 upgrade app?

As it's a very known bug, MS should release a patch for it soon, shouldn't take too long.
