If you use the MCT tool and then create an ISO with it. SO download MCT, run tool, create iso.

Mount ISO (right click iso) and run setup. Disconnect all external storage devices and remove any SD or USB thumbdrives.

Try moving the Update Assistant to the Downloads folder or your desktop. Report back what you get.
With c: I didnt mean I saved it to c:\ ... it was run from download folder obviously. I did not create a medium I just used the tool to start the update...

Okay, try downloading a fresh copy from the Microsoft Website. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
Delete the $GetCurrent folder and try it again. If that does not work, try downloading MCT and then downloading the ISO of your choice. Report back what you get.
EDIT: FIRST, uninstall the W10 Update Assistant from Apps and Settings!

Thanks Bree. I'm trying a repair install from mounted ISO.

On same device I have this Intel AC7260 wireless card. Won't work on new drivers but use to work if I used February 2014 driver. Now it BSOD's on network sys. Time for a USB dongle, far to much energy used to keep $35 card alive.
    Downloads for Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260
    Try a driver from here.

Ok thanks it is working now, after I removed micro sd card too. Which is total nonsense, it didnt say anything about it, nor asked me if it should store anything on it.

Any one done the update and noticed disk space? I ran disk clean before insyallin 1903 and had 29 gig free after the update I now have 40 gig free?

Yes. I have upgraded three very different machines to 1903 (an Intel Atom netbook on x86, my System One below and a uefi i7 machine). My results are not as dramatic as yours, but in each case the 1903 system is significantly smaller than the 1809 system I upgraded from. In the case of the two x64 machines by about 4GB, for the x86 about half a GB.

Any external storage device is causing the block even if it is the boot media.

Thanks Cliff. I'll give it another go but I've never been able to get a driver from that page to work. I try every now and then, it has been a year so I'll give it a whirl.

I have another problem now after the upgrade. Windows tries to install drivers through Windows update, even I had blocked them with group policy editor, and it is still marked as "active": https://i.imgur.com/8GhM89J.png
