Installed 1903 on desktop PC and two laptops today using Win update assistant, system restore enabled on all three during update,no problems so far,had to enable system restore after installation, fingers crossed
I installed my computers with the downloaded file from Windows Assistant, made an iso. Ran the setup from virtual drive (ie mounted from within windows. Left all my USB drives attached, no problems encountered and install went flawlessly. The only issue I experienced was one laptop which I used a DVD iso that refused to install because of my SD card.
Yeah, I tried that, too, plus disconnected Network, removed all cards, USB devices and still failed. Spent the last hour restoring to 1809 with Macrium.
The answer will come eventually and it will probably be stupid and obvious. But I'm burned on this now and going back to actually using my system now.
Some computers, specially laptops that have card reader are usually connected to USB and report having a letter although no SD card is inserted. That gets reported as an external drive with no data on it. Might be prudent to disable it temporarily in BIOS before trying the upgrade.
If you're on wi-fi and having connectivity issues, I'd suggest you try wired if possible.
I had an upgrade issue a few years back on my Asus laptop and connecting the laptop via cable allowed the update the install. Not guaranteed to work, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Worked for me when all other options failed.
Wait a minute! Are you updating now? If so, leave things alone and just wait. If you find you can't, then ok, try wired.
